Born and raised in Los Angeles, I am the adventurous
daughter of William and Julia Brown. Had fun in
elementary, somehow made it through the junior high
years full of annoying boys, and landed at high school
with a modicum of sanity.
At 16, I ventured to Finland as a Foreign Exchange
Student. The Raisanens are a wonderful family. We keep
in touch to this very day! In Finland, the sun does not
set for several weeks during the summer. Alas, the
brightness of the sun kept me from sleeping as much as I
would have liked during my stint, but it did not stop
the fun!
Fast forward to my college years at USC. Bitten by the
"foreign exchange bug," I journeyed to Cuernavaca. The
lovely Marquez-Morales family took very good care of me.
The flying cockroaches also contributed to making this
trip unforgettable.
After earning my degree in Journalism, it was off to
Reno to work the assignment desk at the NBC affiliate. A
couple of things made this stint bearable - Cafe de Thai
(How is it going, Chef Sakul?) and shopping.
A couple of years later, Texas came a-callin.' I headed
off to the ABC affiliate in a small city in the southern
part of the state where we were inundated by crickets,
then frogs, then the great flood. What a bizarre year!
A short while later, I am offered a job in Beaumont at
the ABC affiliate. After a most unhappy year, I flitted
off to Houston where I wrote for four publications.
While living in the land of the best corn chips ever
(thanks, Pappasito's!), I was bitten by the acting
bug. I moved back to L.A. late in 2005. It is great to
be home!
